The Margins Project
Our Story
Our Mission
The Margins Project is a youth-led initiative dedicated to amplifying the voices of young people through the art of storytelling. Our focus is to provide a platform for creative expression, connecting language with imagination, and fostering a community of empathetic storytellers.
Vision
Some stories are written quietly — in notebooks, in hospital rooms, in languages not always heard. The Margins Project exists to bring those stories into the light.

Overview

Inspirations
Each month, The Margins Project shares a story inspiration—a word, image, question, or idea meant to open a door, not define a path. These inspirations are not assignments or prompts. Some stories may echo the inspiration closely; others may wander far from it. Both are welcome. What matters most is that each story is honest, personal, and written in the writer’s own voice.

A Shared Community
The Margins Project is built on the belief that stories connect us across distance, difference, and lived experience. By reading stories written far from our own lives, we learn to listen more carefully, understand more deeply, and recognize the shared humanity that exists beneath our differences. This is not about comparison, but connection

Community Connections
Story Kits (coming soon!) are a hands-on extension of The Margins Project, designed to make storytelling accessible in spaces where writing materials and creative opportunities may be limited. Distributed in shelters, children’s hospitals, and community spaces, Story Kits transform storytelling into an act of care.
Join The Margins Letter!
I send The Margins Letter twice a month as a small note of encouragement for writers and readers alike. In each email, I share the current story inspiration, a few gentle words about writing, a book I’m reading, and pieces of inspiration that have been sitting with me.
This isn’t a newsletter meant to fill your inbox or tell you how to write. It’s simply a place to pause, feel encouraged, and remember that your voice matters—even on the days it feels quiet.
If you’d like to receive The Margins Letter, I’d love to write to you!
