The Margins Project

Stories
May's Inspiration
1. Write about a character finding a message in the bottle at the beach
2. You enter a library where there are no books, only jars of scents. You open one labeled "Summer 1992" and are pulled into someone else's memory
3. Grab a random book and pick a random song. Intertwine the first line of page 58 and the 20th lyric to make a short story
As always the following guidelines must be applied to make your writing eligible for application. We accept short stories, essays, poems, and screenwriting, and submission must be between 250-5,000 words. (Of course, we are fairly flexible with this rule, so if you're slightly over or under don't worry!) Submissions should not include any form of plagiarism, excessive cursing, graphic scenes, or harmful language. You can be anonymous or use a pen name, and head to "Get Involved" to submit! And lastly, be creative and have fun!
